Want to start a luxury swimming pool project?
Designing and building our own, bespoke swimming pool is the ultimate dream. But where do you start? We’ve put together a go-to guide for points to consider to help you make that dream a reality.
It may seem obvious, but really think about where you want your swimming pool to be based, not just the venue, but the specific dimensions within the plot. Make sure there is enough space for the size of pool you want and ensure you have space in the surrounding area for sun loungers, seating, tables. An excellent idea is to visit other pools for research - better still getting in and have a swim!
In, out, or both?!
Although it seems idyllic to have an outdoor swimming pool and you can imagine yourself sipping a pool-side margarita in the sunshine, ask yourself ‘how much time do I actually spend outside?’ If you’re based in the UK then it’s not likely to be much time at all and you’ll need to consider an indoor pool or a semi-permanent cover for use in winter. Both of these options can be just as luxurious and actually offer more options for spa pool features, jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms, to be incorporated into the design and more.
If you’re building an outdoor swimming pool, consider the view, angle of the sun, much-needed shady spots, nearby foliage and any of nature’s beautiful creatures that may also like to take a dip!
Always think about your audience with a bespoke swimming pool. Who will be using it and what for? If it’s a family pool or for guests with children, then ensure there’s a shallow end and clear exit points. If your swimming pool is for relaxing and watching the sun go down, you may want to consider in-pool seating. Swimming is such great exercise that indoor pools often feature in home-gyms, with a moving floor to save on space and maximise gym equipment.
What design features will make your bespoke swimming pool stand out from the rest? Perhaps the shape; geometric or freeform, the colour, an infinity edge or something more. Consider a waterfall, an artistic water feature, mesmerising fiberoptic lights or perhaps salt water for an environmentally friendly option. Or integrate a full spa for an even more luxurious experience with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
