Nestled in the serene surroundings of Gifford House, this outdoor swimming project epitomises luxury and relaxation. Designed by
OB Architecture and captured beautifully by Brett Charles Photography, the space offers a perfect blend of elegance and functionality.
Design Features
The outdoor swimming pool at Gifford House is a true oasis. With its rectangular shape, the pool stretches 11 meters in length and 4 meters in width, providing ample space for leisurely swims. The depth varies from 1.2 meters to 2.2 meters, catering to both casual swimmers and those looking for a deeper plunge.
The pool is maintained at a comfortable 28°C, ensuring a pleasant experience year-round. It holds 75 cubic meters of water and is designed to accommodate 4-6 people, making it perfect for family gatherings or intimate poolside parties.
The hydro spa is equally impressive, offering a square design with dimensions of 2.5 meters by 2.5 meters and a centre depth of 0.9 meters. Operating at a soothing temperature range of 34-36°C, the spa provides a warm and inviting retreat. With a water volume of 3.96 cubic meters, it comfortably accommodates 6-8 people, ideal for relaxation and socialising.
The sauna adds another layer of luxury, measuring 2 meters by 2.2 meters by 2.06 meters. It is designed to accommodate 2-4 people, providing a cosy and rejuvenating space to unwind.
Construction and Finishes
The swimming pool and spa structures were constructed using high velocity pneumatically projected concrete, reinforced with steel to ensure durability and stability. The internal finishes include Guncast’s range of porcelain tiles and the swimming pool steps are cast in situ concrete steps, tiled to match the pool. Coping stones and tiles were supplied by others and fitted by Guncast.
Filtration and Water Treatment
The pool and spa feature advanced filtration and water treatment systems to ensure optimal water quality with minimal chemical additives. Ozone is used as the primary disinfectant, with Sodium Hypochlorite for secondary treatment. The pool’s filtration system manages 75 cubic meters of water with a turnover of 4.3 hours, while the spa’s system handles 3.96 cubic meters with a turnover of 15-20 minutes.
Features and Amenities
The pool and spa are designed to enhance the user experience with features like LED underwater lights, an automatic pool cover, and a Polaris 380 cleaner for the pool. The spa includes Hydro Air jets, a Certikin air blower, and a Guncast control panel.
Plant Room and Controls
The plant room, located within 10 meters of the pool side, houses all necessary equipment for filtration, heating, and water treatment. The main filtration control panel includes circuits for circulation pumps, underwater lights, ozone system, and spa features.
Handover and Aftercare
Upon completion, Guncast’s engineers commissioned and tested the pool and spa systems for optimal performance. The pool and spa shells are guaranteed for 10 years, the rendering and tiling for 3 years, and the filtration, heating, and purification equipment for 1 year. Guncast also offers ongoing maintenance and service to keep the pool and spa in top condition.
