ARTICLE INTRODUCTION

Creating the perfect swimming pool goes beyond beautiful design and high quality finishes. At the heart of every exceptional pool is exceptional water. That’s why Guncast is proud to offer market exclusivity in the UK for OSPA, the German engineered premium water treatment system renowned for delivering crystal clear, naturally fresh pool water of the highest standard. For homeowners, hotels, developers, and wellness facility operators, OSPA represents a step change in what modern pool technology can achieve.

What Is OSPA?

OSPA is an advanced swimming pool water treatment and control system built on more than 50 years of innovation. When using OSPA, the pool water looks, feels, and behaves like pure spring water.

The OSPA system is an intelligent combination of:

• Natural salt based disinfection
• Activated carbon filtration
• Highly refined digital water management technologies.

OSPA’s filtration system uses a multi layer activated carbon filter to remove colour, odours, organic matter, and even combined chlorine, the compound responsible for the typical “chlorine smell” and eye irritation found in conventional pools.

This is complemented by Ospa BlueClear®, a gentle, oxygen rich disinfection method based on natural salt rather than harsh chemicals, creating water that is soft on the eyes, skin, and senses.

Every OSPA system is orchestrated through Ospa BlueControl® 5 Web, a smart management interface that controls water quality, temperature, climate, lighting, and features from a single intuitive platform, even via an app. This refined automation ensures consistent water quality with minimal manual intervention.

The Benefits of OSPA

1. Naturally Pure, Crystal Clear Water
OSPA produces water that feels fresh, clean, and natural. With no chlorine smell, no red eyes, and no skin irritation, users immediately notice the difference. This is made possible through the synergy of activated carbon filtration and salt based disinfection.

2. Gentle and Comfortable Swimming Experience
Unlike conventional pool systems, OSPA technology ensures water that is gentle on the skin and the eyes. Users consistently highlight the “fresh” and “soft” feel of OSPA water, made possible by precise control and oxygen rich disinfection.

3. Exceptional Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency sits at the core of OSPA’s design philosophy. With speed controlled pumps, low consumption filtration, and intelligent digital management, OSPA significantly reduces energy, heat, water, and chemical use.

4. Consistent Professional Grade Water Quality

OSPA’s filtration systems not only meet but exceed standards applied to public pools, including the rigorous DIN requirements, one of Europe’s strictest benchmarks for swimming pool water quality.

Guncast continually reviews and works with leading water treatment and filtration technologies to ensure every pool performs at the highest level. Read more about our visit to Dryden Aqua, the home of AFM® here.

What Is DIN and Why Does It Matter?

DIN stands for Deutsche Industrie Norm (German Industry Standard) and is Germany’s official standard regulating the treatment and disinfection of public swimming pool water, covering filtration, hygiene limits, and system performance. It is internationally respected and often used as a benchmark for best practice, even outside Germany.

While DIN is not a UK regulation, many UK operators, especially those in luxury or commercial environments, value systems that meet or exceed this standard because it reflects exceptionally high water quality and engineering performance.

By exceeding DIN 19643, OSPA positions itself above both UK and European expectations, delivering professional grade water quality suitable for premium residential properties, wellness facilities, hotels, and commercial pools.

In the UK, the nationally recognised guidance for pool water treatment is published by the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG), whose Code of Practice is widely followed by operators.
