ARTICLE INTRODUCTION
We’re thrilled to share we’ve entered the 2025 UK Pool & Spa Awards with our luxury spa and wellness installation at art’otel London Hoxton, competing in the Commercial Pool Project of the Year category. This project, delivered in partnership with KLAFS, showcases Guncast’s ability to combine technical precision with architectural elegance and provide a total wellness solution.
At the heart of the spa is a striking 12-metre indoor swimming pool, set within a minimalist, monochrome space that reflects the hotel’s creative identity while offering guests a calming, immersive environment. Alongside the pool, guests can enjoy a bespoke KLAFS sauna and steam room, each tailored for comfort, performance and aesthetic harmony. The sauna features a two-tier bench layout in warm timber finishes, while the steam room offers a sleek, contemporary feel with dark porcelain surfaces and ambient lighting.
The pool was constructed using a spray concrete shuttering method (shotcrete) and finished with a high-performance Steuler waterproofing membrane, chosen for its durability in demanding commercial environments. Premium porcelain tiles and recessed LED lighting enhance the ambience, while the pool’s bold geometry creates a visually arresting centrepiece.
The installation required significant engineering expertise to adapt the existing building envelope and ensure watertightness, structural stability and aesthetic cohesion.
