As a proud West Sussex business, Guncast is delighted to highlight one of the region’s most anticipated countryside events: The Cowdray Gundog Challenge 2026, held on 25th April at The Deer Park, Cowdray Estate.
This prestigious competition brings together 24 teams of four highly trained gundogs, joined by top handlers from across the UK and Europe to take on a series of complex, controlled tests judged by a panel of experienced experts. This year’s event is being run by Anna Mayhew, Procurement and Stock Controller at Guncast, together with her husband Jason.
The day offers something for everyone. Spectators can enjoy watching the elite teams compete, while dog‑owners can get involved through the popular Scurry, an against‑the‑clock retrieving challenge open to dogs of all abilities in exchange for a charitable donation. Morning refreshments including teas, coffees and pastries will be available, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families and dog lovers alike.
All proceeds from the event support Midhurst Palliative Care, funding the Midhurst Macmillan Service, a charity making a profound impact locally.
