The expert team of designers at Guncast recently undertook a huge redevelopment project for a private residential build in Hertfordshire, UK. The client was seeking a complete family friendly wellness oasis across their property, which was to include a large outdoor pool for up to 12 people as well as the conversion of 3 grade two listed barns.

The Sauna
Owing to the sloping roof of the barn structure, the experts at Guncast determined that the KLAFS PREMIUM Sauna would be the ideal solution for this particular wellness project. Designed with flexibility and customisation in mind, the client was able to choose from several internal cladding options, and ultimately opted for classic hemlock wood. For the benches, soft and lightweight obeche wood was used, and enough seating was installed to accommodate between 2-4 people at a time. KLAFS WB13 speakers were set within the cabin, discreetly hidden below the bench, which connect to the house audio distribution system to further enhance the sooth experience of sauna bathing. Subtle warm lighting adorns the cabin, inviting users to relax and unwind in this bespoke yet classic luxury sauna.

The Steam Room
Measuring at approximately 2.8m x 1.9m x 2.165m (Depth x Width x Height), the bespoke steam room completes the installation of this large-scale wellness oasis. Within the immaculately tiled interior, Guncast placed a KLAFS SAN Steam Generator, which automatically generates steam while maintaining the client’s desired temperature. The associated pipework was installed with a copper finish and welded connections, lagged and insulated appropriately, and includes automatic essence injection and lime disposal. A vertical steam chimney, tiled to match the walls, was placed in the corner of the room to grant the client an authentic steam room experience in the comfort of their very own home. Once again, a KLAFS sound system was discreetly added, this time to the ceiling of the cabin. The speakers connect to the home audio distribution system, creating a seamless flow between the sauna, steam room and gym, each found just a stone’s throw from the luxurious outdoor pool within the barn conversions.

Finishing Touches
Both the sauna and steam room of this project were completed with soft LED strip lighting, place around the corners of the ceiling to cast a warm glow over the wellness spaces.
