Guncast Pools and Wellness swimming pool engineer Chris McGill recently passed his ISPE exams to become a Certified ISPE Technician, and was awarded the Jim Johnson Filtration Shield for achieving the highest result in the Filtration exam.

Chris began his Guncast career as a service engineer and has worked his way up to become a Service and Wellness Operations Manager. Here, he talks about his achievement and experience working at Guncast.

How long have you worked at Guncast?

I have worked at Guncast for just over 7 years now, the time has gone very quickly, and I am enjoying every minute of it.

How has your role changed since you joined?

When I started at Guncast in 2014, I joined as a service engineer. This consisted of servicing swimming pools and customer service.  I have had a couple of promotions including a senior engineer role and my current position, which is Service and Wellness Operations Manager. I am enjoying my role and learning every day, which is good. My role includes day-to-day management of the KLAFS servicing and customer services combined with HSE Commercial Diving and Moving Floor servicing. I am privileged to be working for such a forward-thinking company.

How did you get into the pool & wellness industry?

A friend worked for Guncast and was leaving the company to go back to his hometown, he suggested I apply for the role. The rest is history.

Congratulations on passing your ISPE exams and becoming a certified ISPE technician. Now you have completed your exams, how can you put this new qualification into practice within your role at Guncast?

Thank you. I put a lot of effort into the revision, and it is nice to see the hard work pay off. I am now able to get involved more with surveys and in-depth reports within the service side of Guncast. As well as helping colleagues where I can and assisting customers.

You received the highest results in the filtration exam, how did your past experience help you achieve these fantastic results?

Of course, being in the industry for 7 years was very helpful but the results I achieved were really down to hard work and help from my colleagues at Guncast, who were very supportive and invested their time in me to help get me over the line. I am grateful to those people.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years, career-wise?

I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. Things have changed so much over the last year or two. I am not sure what is around the corner, but I do know that I want to carry on working in the industry and see where it takes me.
